What the journey is like
Seventy minutes of motorway with the sea appearing on your right from kilometre thirty. It is a comfortable, uneventful drive: out of the airport on the ring roads, onto the C-32 and north along the Maresme coast to Blanes, where the Costa Brava begins.
In July and August the C-32 gets heavy at weekends and the drive can stretch to an hour and a half. We leave with margin, and the price stays the same: motorway tolls are included, not added at the end.
Areas you travel through
The Maresme coast
The strip of towns between Barcelona and Blanes: Mataró, Arenys, Canet, Calella. The motorway runs above them, opening onto the sea and the cut-flower greenhouses this county has always lived on.
Blanes, gateway to the Costa Brava
Here the coast stops running straight and begins to break into coves. It is also where the Marimurtra botanical garden sits on the cliff, if you want a half-hour stop along the way.
Arriving in Lloret
The last eight kilometres are coast road, curves and pine woods. You come in from the upper town and drop down to the seafront; nearly all the hotels sit right on the beach.
What to see when you arrive
Castell de Sant Joan
An eleventh-century tower on the headland between the two big beaches. Twenty minutes on foot to the top, and the whole bay from there.
Santa Clotilde Gardens
A 1919 Noucentista garden hanging over the cliff, with cypress stairways dropping towards the sea. The quietest place in town.
Sa Caleta and Cala Banys
The two small coves at either end, cleaner water and far fewer people than the main beach. Reached on foot along the coastal path.
Tossa de Mar
Twelve kilometres along the coast road, one of the finest in Catalonia. Tossa still has its medieval walls above the beach — the only town on the Costa Brava that does.
Before you travel
Lloret is 68 km from Barcelona airport and 40 km from Girona. If you fly into Girona the transfer is shorter and cheaper: ask us for that price.
Many Lloret hotels sit on steep one-way streets. Give the exact address when booking and the chauffeur drives right up to the door.
Out of season, November to March, much of the town closes. Worth it if you want empty coves; not if you want atmosphere.
Included in the price
- Meet and greet with a name sign on arrival
- Flight tracking: if it is delayed, the chauffeur adjusts the pickup
- 60 minutes of free waiting at the airport and the port
- Door to door, no stops and no shared passengers
- Child seats and boosters at no extra cost
- Price fixed at booking: traffic and detours do not change it
